As a founding partner of Rogério Tavares, Baltazar Mendes & Associados – Sociedade de Advogados, SP RL, and later of BMDV – Law Firm, Nuno Baltazar Mendes has played a pivotal role in the development and growth of both firms, establishing himself as a leading figure in the legal field.
For over 40 years, Nuno has actively practised law in the courts, focusing on Civil, Commercial, Employment, and Administrative Litigation. In the last 20 years, he has also been heavily involved as counsel in arbitration proceedings, particularly at the Commercial Arbitration Centre, acquiring extensive and respected experience in resolving disputes. This practice reflects his commitment to delivering efficient and fair solutions for complex commercial disputes, consolidating his reputation as a seasoned professional in the field.
In addition to his legal career, Nuno has made significant contributions to the public sphere. He served as a Member of Parliament in the Assembly of the Republic from October 1995 to July 2000, and as a Councillor for the Lisbon City Council from October 1995 to January 1998, playing a role in shaping local and national policies. His leadership extended to the business sector, where he chaired the Board of Directors of the Lisbon Region Wholesale Market, S.A. from July 2000 to October 2003, contributing decisively to its establishment and consolidation in the market.
